The program of the "Development of visual perception in children with visual impairments" academic subject integrates the basic knowledge accumulated in the modern theory and practice of typhlopedagogy and typhlopsychology on the problems of the development of the visual perception of children with visual impairments. In its scientific categories and conceptual positions the subject is based on the fundamental provisions of the theory and practice of the special pedagogy and psychology , social rehabilitation, general pathology and anatomy, physiology, etc.

The aims of the course are the development of a teacher-pathologists professional skills on the development of the visual perception of children with visual impairments, increasing the professional outlook on the role and the place of the correctional and pedagogical work in the system of the rehabilitation and social integration of persons with visual impairments.

The course objectives:

1. Forming an integral concept of the technology of the process of the development of the visual perception of children with visual impairments.

2. Forming the ideas of means and methods of the development of the visual perception of children with different types and degrees of visual impairments, teaching them to perceive the surrounding objects.

3. Developing the professional qualities significant for a specialist, teaching skills and habits of the basic types and forms of professional activities, provoking the need for professional self-perfection and creative enrichment of the individual teaching experience.

 

The presentation of the educational material of the given program is carried out in the basic forms of organization of the educational process at universities (lectures, seminars, practical studies (workshops) and is mastered by students after mastering the courses of typhlopsychology (psychology of children with visual impairments) and typhlopedagogy (education and training of children with visual impairments).
