2.      Summary

The aim of the course is providing the students with knowledge and skills, necessary for the diagnostic and correctional work with persons with visual impairments.

The course objectives: creation of

1) conditions for the mastering the knowledge of the laws of the psychophysical development of persons with visual impairments;

2) opportunities in the applying the research in the sphere of psychology of individuals with visual impairments in psychological and pedagogical support for children at educational institutions;

After finishing the course a student must:

hhave an idea of:

- the history of the formation of the typhlopsychology as a science;

- the relationship of the scientific subject typhlopsychology with the related spheres of the knowledge;

- the actual problems of studying and teaching the typhlopsychology

h know:

- a subject, an object, goals and objectives of the typhlopsychology as a science;

- scientific and theoretical research of typhlopsychologists: L.S. Vygotsky, A.G. Litvak, M.I. Zemtsova, L.I. Plaksina, L.I. Solntseva, L.P. Grigorieva, V.A. Lonina, D.M. Mallaev, V.Z. Kantor, etc.;

- content of the basic concepts of the typhlopsychology as a science;

- the theory of compensation for the blindness and the weak vision;

- particularities of the diagnostic examination of children with severe visual impairments for the purpose of working out the individual correctional program, elimination of the defects in the childrens psychophysical development;

- methods and techniques of the developing and correctional work with children with visual impairments to provide the psychological and pedagogical support for children of the given category in the system of educational institutions.

- independently analyze scientific information from the bibliographic sources;

- conduct the psychological and pedagogical diagnostics of the given impairments;

- use the techniques of the correctional work on practice
