In the cases of deviations in small childrens psychophysical development (intellectual, speech, physical, sensory) they demonstrate complex, level-sensitive and interconnected manifestations. The observations of the last years show that the number of children with various deviations continues growing. It makes us to speak of modern preschool pathologists need for overall integral knowledge about various children categories with deviations in the psychophysical development.

The leading problem for a family, bringing up a physically challenged child is their social adaptation, caused by brand-new living conditions, where theyve come to after their special childs birth. The parents need the knowledge system, studying them the technologies of the care, education, training and communication with their child.

The aim of the course studying is equipping students with knowledge of the principles and methods of psychological and pedagogical support for parents, aimed at the creating the favourable conditions for the successful social adaptation of the family, bringing up a child with deviations in the psycho-physical development.

The subject objectives

- students acquaintance with problems of psychological and pedagogical support for families;

- students mastering the categorial apparatus of the subject under study;

- acquaintance with problems of the social-pedagogical education of the parents, bringing up a physically challenged child;

-         - students participation in the complex of rehabilitation actions for the families, having disabled children.

Requirements for the level of students training on the finishing

the course study

Basic knowledge and skills, which must be mastered by students in the possess of the subject study:

     awareness of the problems of the psychological and pedagogical support for families;

     awareness of the particularities of social-pedagogical education of the parents, bringing up a physically challenged child;

     skills of using the methods of the correctional and preventive work in organizing the psychological and pedagogical help for the parents of children with deviations in the psychophysical development.
